Launch Week

Posted December 12 into A Girl In Time by John Birmingham

I just moved up the pre-order date at iBooks, and checked the early bird discount at Amazon and with that, A Girl in Time is good to go.

Over the next 24 hours she'll roll out across the other online stores – and the pre-orders from iBooks probably won't drop until midnight in Cupertino, which is somewhere around close of business here later today – but I think I'm calling it launched.

Many thanks to everyone who dropped an early review. They help enormously.

The launch price, which I won't be talking about anywhere but here and the bookclub, is US $2.99.

It'll probably double at full retail.

Print is coming but I doubt it'll drop before Xmas. I also tried to get into Googleplay, so that Bill Ferguson wouldn't mock me, but el Goog told me to get fucked. So I guess I wont have the pleasure of watching them arbitrarily drop the price to free without asking.

Anyway, it's out on Amazon, Kobo and very soon on iBooks. (Ignore the Smashwords and INktera links)

You can get it via this universal link.

Will, my cover artist, tweaked the design on last time. I love it. As always, reviews greatly appreciated.

The email from iBooks telling me my pre-order was available was the best news I had all day. And then my productivity was shot because I was moping at my desk wanting to read my new shiny and I had to do stupid work stuff. Apparently reading at your desk on work time is frowned upon. WHO KNEW??

I want to savour this but I know I'll mainline it as quickly as I can because shiny new Birmo, so will get a review up for you ASAP :)

You need to get another job that supports your doing the bidding of our Master. I cannot express how deeply disappointed I am right now. That review should have been written already.

I know! I am ashamed :(

Therbs is gonna tell you...

Posted December 13
Reviewing it and reading it are separate things. They're not necessarily interdependent. If I waited until I'd finished it poor old JB wouldn't get that immediate early hit of 5 star review goodness and we don't like him missing out on things do we? Besides, Rhino says to get it done.

she_jedi is gonna tell you...

Posted December 14
OMG you guys, no pressure! A gushing 5 star review has been duly crafted and posted in iBooks, per my fan girl duty to our lord and master (all hail).

Rhino mutters...

Posted December 14
Good job.

Of corse good is never good enough. But I appreciate you getting to it.

And I hope you know that I'm taking the piss.

Mostly.

she_jedi is gonna tell you...

Posted December 14
Of course! As am I, mostly :P

Just bought in from the UK beast of Bezos site.

It's taken the money, but I'm getting the whirling doughnut of doom on the 'thank you' page.

Here's hoping...

Thank you, Mr B, for this - the first few free chapters whetted my appetite.

Fuckwittery on my part - it was sent to the Kindle App on my iPad, I was looking in iBooks.

Doh!

Unacceptable. Before the next launch you will drill the process until you get it right the first time every time. You cost yourself, and JB, TIME! Time that we cannot get back.

I expect better from all of you.

A Kindle purchase as always unless it's on paper. Once I can work out what day it is I'll post a review somewhere.

It's Friday and I posted my review. I am slightly annoyed that it hasn't come up as a verified purchase. It may be something to do with whether I'm on Amazon US or AU, purchasing on one, reviewing on the other. Who knows?

It was a good book, thx JB. I didn't particularity liked Cady, but the charger itself was convincing. Sadly not your usual killer Barbi :)

John Birmingham reckons...

Posted December 13
Yeah, I decided not to go with killer Barbie this time.

Oldy swirls their brandy and claims...

Posted December 18
It was a good choice. I didn't especially warm to Cady, but you're writing a self-absorbed millennial. And Georgia likewise didn't bring much to the table, she was basically a real-life Facebook friend. Skilfully done.
But I loved Titanic Smith, and the story was intriguing.
I'm glad it was something of a departure, and I look forward to more.

OK, People, why are there not more reviews written already? Steve Stirling took time out of diving into his piles of gold doubloons to write a review.

I have taken time out from diving into my pile of mildewy potato peelings and have written a review. Whilst humble, I should hope that it pleases my lords and betters.

21 reviews on the Seppo Basrion of Bezos.

That is the bare minimum that I would expect to see.

Why are you disappointing me?

Therbs reckons...

Posted December 14
I'll see how the cut and paste of my Oz Beezos review works at the Seppo one. hang on, there's also Goodreads.
Later.

Off Amazon to my laptop with no issues.

A great read, and review submitted. This one reminded me strongly of the paper back Sci-Fi I read in the 70's, of course with a modern take. I liked the different writing voice you used on this one. I was left feeling that it would be a good YA title also, based on the way the characters presented, and things flowed. Thank you for several quality hours of escape with some new friends.
